Joanna Neuhoff-Murawska, PhD – dietician and collaborator of 10 years with the Children’s Memorial Health Institute, helping to solve numerous health-related issues affecting young patients. She works with obese children, as well as those suffering from constipation, allergies and other illnesses.
She operates her own Dietician Counselling Centre, Oregano, and specialises in treating obesity and diet-related conditions. The title of her doctoral dissertation, which she defended at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences, is “The role of altering eating patterns in the treatment of non-alcoholic liver steatosis in children and young people”.
For a very long time, she was searching a way to encourage children to eat healthily and get exercise. For this purpose, she took on the alias of Dr Witaminka and wrote educational song lyrics to promote a healthy lifestyle. She also convinced her husband – Zbigniew Murawski (Professor Note) – a musician and composer, to write music for the lyrics, and their musician friends, both young and old, came in to help play and sing the songs. This is how the band Oreganki was born.
Dr Witaminka, Prof. Note, and Oreganki are the authors of the “Dr Witaminka” radio programme, which teaches the principles of healthy nutrition to children and their parents. The programme is broadcast on Radio Poland Monday-Friday at 2:30 PM.
